Filling Haus Oberschlesien as a place of cultural encounter rests on three pillars. Further focal points are set through individual projects, depending on financial possibilities.
Events
In its own event program, the foundation seeks to connect to contemporary questions and topics and started offering the lecture series “Höseler conversations. Current contributions to politics and society” in 2021. For this, well-known names from politics and society are invited to engage in dialogue with one another and the audience on current issues. Furthermore, the foundation has offered the concert series “Salon Silesia. Höseler Concerts” since 2021 with Upper Silesian music. Please see our event calendar for information on up-coming events.
Intercultural Work
Our society is becoming ever more multicultural and the interest groups involved in the foundation are becoming increasingly heterogeneous. The foundation possesses special competency in multicultural and multilingual collaboration, which is particularly helpful in supporting cross-border exchanges and the organisation of international encounters in Ratingen and Upper Silesia in the spirit of understanding between peoples and growing together in a united Europe. This may be encounters at celebrations hosted by the foundation, holiday programmes for youth or exchange programmes for school children. This intercultural collaboration will be supplemented through cooperation projects with the German minority and institutions in Upper Silesia.
Support for research into Upper Silesian History and regional studies
The development, maintenance and assessment of the collection is a task native to the foundation. In this regard, scientific contributions in Upper Silesian regional studies are important. The foundation therefore is striving to revive the series of Upper Silesian annals which had to be discontinued in 2008 for financial reasons.
